Get help Mimosa group Women who have experienced historic childhood abuse often face life-long impacts that prevent them from thriving. This is where our ‘Mimosa’ programme comes in. Delivered by trained specialists, this 10-week has been designed to support the safety, health, recovery and learning needs of women who have historical experiences of childhood sexual abuse. The programme includes various activities which support learning, for instance exploring healthy ways of living, how to avoid destructive cycles of abuse, social functioning skills and complex issues like denial and repression. Through this activity, women are able to move away from feeling like a victim, address the impact that the abuse has had on their lives, gain the resilience they need to move forwards and gain a peer-support network. Get help Our Mimosa programme is offered as part of a wider recovery plan to woman with this experience at LAWC. This always includes 1-1 key worker support plus access to other areas of support like specialist help with their mental health and other peer group activities. All participants must be a client at LAWC and have had at least six individual counselling sessions before joining Mimosa to ensure they are properly prepared to address their trauma and can fully benefit from the learning activities.
